We are seeking a Regional Health and Safety Manager to be the Safety Culture Leader for our Victorian team. Primarily based in Melbourne working with our Melbourne Civil, Water, Rehabilitation and Joint Venture teams. 

About the Role:

To be successful in this position, you must demonstrate superior safety leadership within a mature HSE landscape. You have extensive knowledge of Health and Safety systems and theories and been a proven promoter of good safety culture. You are passionate and resilient and have previous on-site experience having worked across numerous construction projects / disciplines in a HSE (Project) Senior Advisor or Manager role. 

Key duties of the role are:

  • Coaching and mentoring the workforce, specifically around safety behaviours, accountability for safety, interventions and creating a ‘zero harm culture’.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including the client to ensure HSE practices and performance are realised.
  • Provide HSE support and direction to all employees and subcontractors working on Abergeldie projects.
  • Provide training and verification of competencies for staff.
  • Provide advice in the development of construction methodologies to ensure, practical controls and mitigation of risk.
  • Champion the use of HSEQ platforms to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of all related matters to enable the extraction of relevant data on an on-going basis.
  • Coordinating the compilation and analysis of project specific HSE statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities for the team regarding HSEQ issues.
  • Facilitate and assist project management teams when conducting accident and incident investigations (including ICAM investigations).

To be considered for the role you will be:

  • Diligent in task completion and system management.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills with ability to multitask and prioritise. 
  • Analytical capability. 
  • Have clear, concise and transparent communication. 
  • Good computer literacy, including Word, Excel, SharePoint and other relevant IT Platforms and Apps which may be in use. 
  • Relevant certification in delivering Training. 
  • Relevant Certificate or Diploma in Work Health & Safety. 
  • You will have expert knowledge of national health and safety legislation, including ACTS and regulations. 
  • The ability to demonstrate pro-active engagement with all levels of project staff to drive and promote leadership and behavioural change on projects.
