Abergeldie designs and delivers multi-disciplinary rail projects including track formation reconditioning, points and crossing renewals, 1500V OHW, HV traction, station infrastructure, bridges and rail infrastructure: the complex infrastructure to build better communities. 

About the role

The Rail Business Development Leader (RBDL) is responsible for delivering revenue growth in the Rail sector by bringing exceptional Client relationships to enable opportunity identification and incubation, strategic positioning, campaign planning, and Bid and Tender management to deliver profitable projects to the business. 

Your responsibilities

Accountable for the bid cycle including identification, tracking, development and bid management. In the dual role of Bid Manager you will be responsible for managing an opportunity from qualification through to contract award, including value proposition development, strategy development, solution development, commercial considerations, partner identification, subcontractor/consultant identification and risk management. Responsibilities include the introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes.

What you need

  • Extensive network in Rail infrastructure with demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.
  • Strong people management and commercial skills.
  • Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million-dollar complex civil infrastructure opportunities. 
  • Background in rail construction and experience of bid management from opportunity identification through to project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing design consultants during the tender process to manage costs and get quality outputs from the consultant that contribute to a winning tender.   
  • Comfortable working at CEO / Director Level with internal and external customers. 
  • Fully conversant with the competitive marketplace. 
  • Sound commercial understanding, risk management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities. 
  • Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.
