About the role

We are seeking a talented Senior Project Engineer to join our Rehabilitation team in Melbourne. We are offering the right candidate an opportunity to assist in the management of a small team looking after multiple projects in the Water and Sewer industry. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic Senior Project Engineer to partner with our established team and champion a ‘one team’ culture that focuses on delivering quality outcomes for our team and clients.  You must have a serious approach to safety and collaboration. This opportunity will see you working with our important clients such as Yarra Valley Water, South East Water and Greater Western Water. 

You will be joining a dedicated team who are committed to safety, sustainability and collaboration. Experience in rehabilitation of sewer/water systems and/or utilities is preferred.

Your responsibilities

  • Plan the coordination of multiple work processes of work across a contract.
  • Ensure that the project is successfully completed within budget, on time and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provide training and leadership to project staff.
  • Ensure that adequate resources are allocated to the project.
  • Apply problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Assist with budget forecasting and financial reports.
  • Monitor and review project expenditure and forecast expenditure against budget.
  • Understanding of QA and programming of projects.
  • Manage differences and diversity at the work site.
  • Organise and delegate work tasks and activities.
  • Manage administrative duties of the position and compile required documentation.
  • Actively encourage site safety by encouraging safety as a priority whenever on site and assisting the Supervisor with any WHS issues.
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Management Plan.
  • Take on new challenges with a willingness to learn and promote change.

What you need

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Construction Industry.
  • Experience working in the Water and Sewer Industry desirable.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with a capacity to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in managing a team
