Abergeldie is a locally owned contractor with over 30 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. About the project

Abergeldie, as part of a joint venture partnership with BMD Constructions and KBR (known as ABK) and have been appointed as one of two Integrated Capital Works Planning and Delivery Partners for South East Water’s record AUD$1.5 billion investment in major capital projects within the utility’s growth, reliability, and resource recovery portfolios. We are also one of two Delivery Partners to provide works that form part of Yarra Valley Water’s Delivery Reliability Program. This includes planned inspections, maintenance and renewals of water and sewer networks and associated network assets designed to support the health and well-being of customers, communities, and the environment over a 12-year program of works.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity in Melbourne for an experienced Lead Estimator to join our Pre-Contracts team, supporting our Joint Venture Programs as well as contributing to national tenders across Abergeldie.

As the Lead Estimator, you will work closely with our Estimating Manager to deliver high-quality and competitive bids. This role can be based in Tullamarine, West Melbourne, or our Southeast office (Dingley / Keysborough area). Other flexible work arrangements are available - let us know what works best for you.

What you’ll bring to the team

We are looking for a highly motivated Lead Estimator with extensive experience in Water Infrastructure projects and first-principles estimating. Ideally, you will also have on-site construction experience, giving you a strong understanding of project execution. The ideal candidate will have;

• Proven experience in estimating and tendering water, wastewater, and pipeline construction projects.
• Strong technical expertise in first-principles estimating, including a deep understanding of labour, plant, material, and subcontractor pricing.
• Experience using estimating software such as Genesis, Expert Estimation, or similar tools.
• Ability to interpret complex project specifications, designs, and methodologies to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
• A collaborative approach, working with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate estimates and methodology to both internal stakeholders and clients.
• A keen eye for detail, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all estimates.
