About the Opportunity
As a Senior Environmental Advisor on a major civil infrastructure project in North-West Sydney, you’ll play a key leadership role in ensuring the project meets NSW environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
In this role, you’ll oversee environmental compliance, conduct risk assessments, and implement best-practice sustainability initiatives to minimise environmental impact. You’ll also work closely with regulatory bodies, clients, and project teams to drive a strong environmental culture throughout the project lifecycle.
Day to day, you will:
- Provide strategic environmental leadership across the project, ensuring compliance with all obligations.
- Develop, review, and implement Environmental Management Plans, Risk Assessments, and Sustainability Strategies.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and incident investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Identify and mitigate environmental risks, ensuring sustainability initiatives are integrated into project delivery.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and clients on environmental and sustainability matters.
- Mentor and educate project teams on environmental responsibilities, fostering a culture of best practice.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key environmental performance indicators throughout the project lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- 6+ years of experience as an Environmental Advisor within civil construction.
- Degree in Environmental Science or related field, with strong knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Expertise in ISO 14001, environmental approvals, and sustainability best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build collaborative relationships with internal teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- A proactive, solutions-driven approach, with the ability to foresee risks and implement effective strategies.
- Proven ability to integrate environmental objectives into project goals, fostering a culture of environmental excellence.
