Our Summer Internship Program offers university students the opportunity to develop essential skills and networks, apply classroom learning to real-world projects, and get ready for a successful career after graduation.
Program Highlights
- Paid Internship: Gain practical experience across one of our projects or business units, tailored to your area of study.
- Real-World Exposure: Gain hands-on experience on exciting projects across Infrastructure, Water, Rail, and more. This program offers a unique opportunity to apply your studies in a practical setting.
- Mentorship & Support: Our team will support your growth and development, providing guidance throughout your placement.
- Pathway to Graduate Opportunities: Successful interns may be invited to join our Graduate Development Program, with priority consideration given to those who complete our Internship Program.
We welcome students in their third or fourth year of study, with opportunities available across the following teams:
- Infrastructure for those interested in delivering complex civil construction projects such as bridges, tunnels, rail and roads. Suited to students studying Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines.
- Water for students passionate about water and wastewater infrastructure. Ideal for those studying Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Pre-Contracts for those curious about how projects are scoped, costed, and planned before they begin. This team suits students from Engineering, Construction Management, or similar fields.
- Environment & Sustainability for those driven to improve environmental outcomes in construction. Typically suited to students studying Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related degrees.
- Commercial for those interested in the financial and contractual aspects of project delivery. Typically suited to students studying Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have full working rights in Australia.
- Be available to work full-time during the summer university break.
- Be keen to develop a career within the construction industry
- Have strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
Program Location and Dates
Our Summer Internship Program runs from November 2025 to February 2026, with opportunities available to work on projects and sites across Sydney.
The work we do
Abergeldie is a locally owned contractor with 30 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.
