About Abergeldie Structural Fabrications
Abergeldie Structural Fabrications (ASF) is the specialist steel-fabrication arm of Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure. Based in Regents Park, ASF designs, cuts, welds and delivers structural-steel components for major infrastructure projects including bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment facilities, rail works, mining infrastructure and pipeline rehabilitation.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified Welding Supervisor to lead our welding team. In this hands-on role, you will supervise the team and carry out welding tasks in our workshop and onsite, ensuring full compliance with approved welding-procedure specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Key responsibilities include;
- Supervise and coordinate welding activities, assigning tasks to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Weld and fabricate steel components in accordance with approved procedures and drawings.
- Prepare, align and assemble metal sections using hand tools, flame cutters and measuring instruments.
- Inspect and finish welds (filing, grinding, polishing) to meet quality standards.
- Coordinate third-party NDT inspections and review reports.
- Troubleshoot technical welding issues with engineers and project managers.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 1554 and ISO 9606 standards.
- Maintain accurate records of welding work, qualifications and quality documentation.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Recognised Welding Supervisor qualification and extensive structural-steel welding experience.
- Valid General Construction Induction Card (White Card) and current driver’s license with reliable transport.
- Current forklift licence.
- Tig and MIG welding experience (stainless steel and aluminum welding advantageous).
- Thorough understanding of welding codes, procedures and inspection methods.
- Proven leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
