About the West Region Delivery Team

The West Region Delivery Team (WRDT) consortium comprises of Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure and Fulton Hogan for construction, Programmed for maintenance and facility management, and Stantec and Atlas for design and engineering.

WRDT operates under a collaborative contracting framework – Partnering for Success (P4S) – and is engaged in delivering design, construction, maintenance, and facility management services for Sydney Water’s 10-year infrastructure program across wastewater, water, and recycled water systems.

About the project

The Nepean Water Filtration Plant (WFP) Upgrade is a significant infrastructure project aimed at increasing the plant’s capacity to 33 megaliters per day - equivalent to filling 13 Olympic-sized swimming pools every day. This upgrade will enhance the water supply for over 50,000 people, ensuring a reliable and sustainable future for the region.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to oversee multiple projects as part of the Nepean WFP Upgrade project. Based on-site in Nepean, this role will lead and manage a team of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers and ensure overall successful project execution.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, contractual requirements, and client expectations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, fostering a high-performance culture that drives efficiency and collaboration.
• Serve as the primary liaison for Sydney Water, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, ensuring strong working relationships and clear communication.
• Monitor project budgets, control costs, assess financial performance, and proactively manage risks to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
• Oversee contract negotiations, claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
• Drive best practices, innovation, and efficiencies to optimise project delivery and enhance operational performance.

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive leadership experience managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within the water or utilities sector.
• A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, ideally with experience in collaborative contract models such as P4S, alliances, or joint ventures.
• Proven ability to navigate complex challenges, manage competing priorities, and deliver practical solutions.
• Commercial and financial acumen, particularly in budget control and financial reporting for high-value projects.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
